POLICY STATEMENT

Tholo Energy Service’s corporate social investments spend is divided between focused flagship projects and community based projects in three key areas: Education/Sponsorships, Donation, social development and special community projects and partnerships.

OBJECTIVE

Tholo Energy CSI encompasses projects that are external to the normal business activities of a company and not directly for purposes of increasing company profit but these projects have a strong developmental approach and utilize company resources to benefit and uplift communities and are not primarily driven as marketing initiatives.

It is Tholo Energy Services initiative to contribute toward corporate social responsibility as a way of giving back to the community and it will do this in different ways. The company will participate in community developments and events where appropriate and possible. The database will be kept in order to make the report every quarter:

Categories are as follows:

1. Education/Sponsorships,
2. Donations,
3. Social development and
4. Special community projects and Partnerships

The quarterly report will be focusing on the following subjects:

• Statistics (e.g. sponsorships, donations, number of traineeships generated, special community projects, and expenditure in local community)
• Community affair initiatives (e.g. protection of historic, cultural, educational, recreational, and aesthetic values)
• Community partnership programs
• Capacity building in local communities to encourage sustainable local and regional enterprise
• Opportunities as a result of the operations presence that will continue beyond the life of the mining operation
• Stakeholders Identified and their commitments
• How the operation manages and monitors the performance of these social programs.

OUTLINE:

Corporate Social Investment is integral to business and prosperity. Practical social investment programmes are at the leading edge of long-term solutions to business and social challenges in its boundaries of area of service.

Tholo Energy Services is committed to contribute to the needs of people in particular the communities that is vulnerable and operates within its boundaries, thereby making a sustainable contribution to the development and economic growth of the country and in the end play an increasingly vital role in the democratisation of the societies. The company has a clear CSI policy which outlines the areas of focus being Education, Community Development and different request from individuals and this is based on the nature of the request:

To implement the policy, the company has developed long and short-term programmes:

In collaboration with the Headmasters of the school, chiefs and other stakeholders; Management will be participating largely in spearheading the execution of the projects and in ensure that all events get credible media coverage.

Concerned department will make a plan for implementation and liaise with department of Finance for the budget and method of reimbursements after every event.

THE MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Education:
Tholo Energy Services also believes that Lesotho needs educated and skilled citizens to help it grow and develop a thriving economy. The company understands that this can only be achieved through decent schools inform, availability of books and other learning resources.

Back to school initiative:

• School fees
• Uniform
• Maintenance of Play grounds
• Contribution to sports initiatives

Community Development:
The initiative is aimed at providing support to the communities with clear programmes and constitutions to fight hunger, poverty and unemployment of youths as well as caring for one another especially most vulnerable being children. Community programmes are aimed to include the following:

• Community Projects .e.g piggery ,chickens, farming etc
• Orphanage support: Clothing, food etc
• Schools , Classrooms, Labs, staff rooms etc
• Youth recreational programmes: e.g mini marathons, cycling and assisting in events like tourism day, Moshoeshoe’s day and Independence day.
